Tirane

Tirana is the capital city of Albania and also their most populated with more than 550,000 inhabitants in the area. It is a hive of activity and interesting sites. Tirana is noted for being one of the wettest and sunniest cities in Europe. Tirana is also home to the only airport currently operating International Airport in the country. Though it is an inland city, it is roughly 40 minutes from the ocean (Durrës).

Tirana is a city that thrives on contrast, where you can start your day floating above the canopy on the Dajti Ekspres cable car for a bird’s-eye view of the capital before heading back down to the Tirana Artificial Lake in the Grand Park. This sprawling green escape is the city's favorite backyard, perfect for a peaceful lakeside stroll or a coffee among the trees. As the sun sets, the energy shifts seamlessly toward the Blloku district, where the legendary nightlife takes over with its mix of world-class cocktail bars and high-energy clubs that keep the city pulsing long into the night.

• Frescu:

  • lower prices and larger, more sizable homes

  • more remote and a 45 minute bus ride from city center

  • 500 - 800 euros for 2 bedroom apartment

  • Highlights: near Dajit Mountain cable car

• Kompinat:

  • 400 - 600 euros for a 2 bedroom apartment 

  • industrial, less walking friendly

  • far from city center and public transit may be limited
